The Homestead (circa 1850) celebrates the life of a Renaissance man who was born and raised in Orwell, PEI. Sir Andrew, of Scottish descent, attended the One Room School in Uigg and went on to become a teacher, writer, doctor, professor, and editor. He published 10 books, best knows is "The Master's Wife", which tells the story of his father (The Master), his mother, (The Master's Wife), nine siblings and their life in rural PEI in the late 1800s.

The farm is now forest operated as Macphail Woods Eco-Forestry Project, ( Come and see the Native Plant Nursery, Arboretum, and walk the trails.

We host meetings, weddings, and dinners. The Woods can be enjoyed at all time. In the warm months, the gates close at 4 pm so please park outside the gate if walking in the Woods.
